List of 3G license holders in India


List of 3G license holders in India who got spectrum in Apr-May, 2010 3G spectrum auction and their respective circles:

1.Aircel: Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Bihar and Jharkhand, Jammu and Kashmir, Karnataka, Kerala, Kolkata, North East, Orrisa, Punjab, Tamil Nadu, UP(E), West Bengal.
 Total- 13 circles.

2. Bharti Airtel: Delhi, Mumbai, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, UP(W), Rajasthan, West Bengal, Himachal Pradesh, Bihar, Assam, North East, Jammu and Kashmir.
 Total- 13 circles.

3. BSNL: All India except Delhi and Mumbai.
 Total- 20 circles.

4. Idea Cellular Limted: Maharashtra, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Punjab, Haryana, UP(E), UP(W), Madhya Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir.
 Total- 11 circles.

5. MTNL: Delhi and Mumbai.
 Total- 2 circles.

6. Reliance Communications Limited: Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Punjab, Rajasthan, West Bengal, Himachal Pradesh, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Orrisa, Assam, North East, Jammu and Kashmir.
 Total- 13 circles.

7. STel: Bihar, Himachal Pradesh, Orrisa.
 Total- 3 circles.

Please note that S-Tel has stopped its GSM services and exit telecom sector after Supreme Court cancelled their licenses. They may surrender 3G licenses too and that licenses will be re-auctioned.

8. Tata Docomo: Maharashtra, Gujarat, Karnataka, Kerala, Haryana, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh(W),Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh.
 Total- 9 circles.[b]

9. Vodafone: [b]Delhi, Mumbai, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Kolkata, Haryana, UP(E), West Bengal.
 Total- 9 circles.

For some circle operators like Airtel-Idea-Vodafone and Tata Docomo-Aircel have joined hands i.e sharing 3G network to provide services to customers where they are not holding license under Intra Circle Roaming Agreement.

For e.g- As you can see in the list that for Delhi circle only Airtel, Vodafone, Reliance and MTNL has 3G license but Idea is also providing 3G in Delhi via ICRA.

List of BWA or Broadband Wireless Access Spectrum/License or LTE in 20MHz band

1. Aircel: Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Bihar, Orrisa, Assam, North East, Jammu and Kashmir.
 Total- 8 circles.

2. Augere (Mauritius-based company): Madhya Pradesh.
 Total- 1 circle.

3. BSNL: All India except Delhi and Mumbai. BSNL has returned spectrum in some circles as it was useless. So can’t say that BSNL will launch LTE.
 Total= 20 circles.

4. Bharti Airtel: Karnataka, Kolkata, Maharashtra and Goa, Punjab.
 Total- 4 circles.

5. MTNL: Delhi and Mumbai.
 Total- 2 circles.

6. Qualcomm Inc(US-based company): Delhi, Mumbai, Haryana, Kerala.
 Total- 4 circles.

7. Reliance Infotel: Pan India i.e All circles or states in India.

Do not confuse Reliance Infotel with Reliance Communication or RCOM which is offering GSM/CDMA/3G services. Both companies are different.
 Total- 22 circles.
8. Tikona Digital Networks Limited: Gujarat, UP (East), UP (West), Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh.
 Total: 5 circles.

If your circle is not there in the list of 3G and BWA or 4G operators, it means they don’t have license for that circles.

BWA/4G trials are underway but no commercial launch is done by any company as of yet. So, when 4G will get launched, there is no answer for this question. Current updates suggests BWA/4G launch by June, 2012 by some companies and by Dec, 2012 by others.

1. Aircel: 3G (13 circles)- Rs. 6499.46 crores. BWA/4G (8 circles)- Rs. 3438.01 crores
Total- Rs. 9937.47 crores.

2. Bharti Airtel Limited: 3G(13 circles)- Rs.12295.46 crores. BWA/4G (4 circles)- Rs. 3314.36
Total- Rs.15609.82 crores.

3. BSNL: 3G(20 circles)- Rs.10162.20 crores. BWA/4G (20 circles)- Rs. 8313.80 crores
Total- Rs. 18476 crores.

4. Idea Cellular Limited: 3G (11 circles)- Rs.5768.59 crores. BWA/4G- NA
Total- Rs.5768.59 crores.

5. MTNL: 3G (2 circles)- Rs.6564 crores. BWA/4G (2 circles)- Rs.4533.97
Total- Rs.11097.97 crores.

6. Reliance Communiations Limited: 3G (13 circles)- Rs.8585.04 crores. BWA/4G- N.A
Total- Rs.8585.04 crores.

7. Reliance Infotel Limited: 3G- N.A BWA/4G- Rs.12847.77 crores.
Total- Rs.128847.77 crores.

8. S-Tel: 3G (3 circles)- Rs.337.67 crores. BWA/4G- N.A

Attention!

Here in India, Telecom Operators have got BWA/4G soectrum in 2300MHz or 2.3GHz band. So before buying any 4G device say USB Dongle or Tab, do check whether it has support to 2300MHz/2.3GHz band or not.

List of 4G/LTE mobile phones:

No 4G phones with support to LTE 2300MHz band is available as of now in India.

List of 4G US Dongles:

1. Nokia Siemens LTE-7210: Downlink/Uplink Speed- 102Mbps/50Mbps Band Supported- 2300/2600 MHz. Availability in India- With 4G launch. Price: Not known.
